Whole-cell biotransformation using E. coli immobilized in calcium alginate beads is an efficient alternative for amino acid production. Using a rotating bed reactor (RBR) ensures catalyst stability, mass transfer, and easy reuse. This scalable method reduces production costs and environmental impact, offering a sustainable industrial solution compared to chemical synthesis.
